Presentation: “Professional Branding”
Establishing, managing, and maintaining a professional, compelling brand is an essential part of any effective job search. Telling a meaningful and relevant story to achieve the “law of attraction” from hiring managers and companies enables job seekers to establish thought leadership status, and it sets them apart from their competition. It also leaves a positive and memorable impression. This presentation will cover strategies for job seekers to fully prepare for the entire lifecycle of the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and negotiation process with a compelling brand story. Brand expert and career advisor Debra Wheatman will cover understanding your value and sharing things that make YOU unique. She will discuss appropriate preparation, practice, confidence, and ways to showcase your talents to serve as the framework for a successful search and beyond.

About the speaker:
Debra Wheatman, CPRW, CPCC, is the founder and president of Careers Done Write, a marketing and personal branding company providing comprehensive services to job seekers and professionals who are proactive about managing their professional development and career planning efforts. With her background in corporate human resources with well-respected financial services, advertising, and media and entertainment companies, Debra guides clients to establish and reach goals aligned with their professional needs. Debra works in career management, leadership strategy, interpersonal engagement, change management, and performance in post-M&A environments. She is passionate about working with her clients as they pursue gratifying career choices. Debra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Adelphi University. She is a Certified Professional Résumé Writer and Certified Professional Career Coach. She has been featured on Good Day New York, Fox Business News, CNBC, Forbes and in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post. Debra is a regular speaker to local job support groups and at career-related industry events. She volunteers her time to local charities and presents on topics related to interviewing and career planning. She is a frequent presenter at Gartner’s security summit in Washington, DC, on diversity, equity and Inclusion, C-level leadership, and strategies to help women negotiate. Additionally, Debra has been engaged by Baruch College, Deloitte, and the NFL to present on branding, career development, social media, and management topics.
