Presentation: A Conversation About Current Trends and Technology Impacting Hiring

Gerry will be addressing current, critical issues impacting how employers are transforming their hiring practices- automation/AI, pay transparency, gig work, candidate experience and more. Whatever is keeping you up at night is fair game. No deck. No slides. Just come and expect to participate in the conversation.

About the speaker:

Gerry describes himself as a life-long student. He stays grounded by engaging a community of friends & colleagues every day- actively promoting the notion that Talent Acquisition (TA) is the ‘point of the spear’ of HR. Every stakeholder in the hiring process, especially candidates, must have their basic needs addressed. Gerry founded CareerXroads in 1996 to encourage the transformation of hiring into the 21st century.

Today, with his business partner, Chris Hoyt, CareerXroads is in its second decade as a member-driven community of Talent leadership teams from 100+ mostly multi-national employers who are devoted to learning from and helping one another improve and succeed.

In 2010, Gerry co-founded a non-profit, Talentboard, with Elaine Orler and Ed Newman, to better define and research the Candidate Experience, a subject he has been passionate about for more than 30 years. Today the ‘CandEs’ has firmly established itself around the world and conducts annual benchmarks for employers in North America, Europe, Asia and South America by sharing their Candidate Experience data and competitive practices (based on more than a quarter million candidate surveys each year from 300-500 participating employers.)

In 2017, the Association for Talent Acquisition Professionals was launched after years of discussion with practitioners, consultants and service providers. Approaching 1000 members in 2021, ATAP’s Board of Directors is building a body of work to truly support recruiting as a profession. This milestone completed another bucket list item Gerry was intent on seeing through.

Gerry co-authored eight books on the evolution of staffing, and has written 100s of articles and whitepapers on similar topics. His career spans 50 years and includes Consulting, Recruitment Marketing, HR leadership positions with Fortune 100 employers, Executive Search and Career Services at the University where he graduated with his BE in Engineering as well as IO/Psychology degrees.

Gerry’s student persona is kept fresh by leading global delegations of CHROs and TA leaders with China Gorman each year to interview government officials, employers, professors and students about work and hiring practices somewhere in the world. Recent countries include Singapore (2019) Eastern Europe (2018), Japan (2017), Cuba (2015). Join us in Israel May 2023

The Breakfast Club NJ Presents: Networking Circles: How to Cultivate Meaningful Relationships That Drive Results Togetherpresented by Andy O’Hearn

Presentation: Networking Circles: How to Cultivate Meaningful Relationships That Drive Results Together

In 2017, Andy O’Hearn’s employer, Bayer, created a community to help more people learn how to accomplish goals through small groups (e.g., 3-5 colleagues). Loosely based originally on a concept entitled “Working Out Loud” by John Stepper, Bayer morphed this into #WOW (Ways of Working) True North, a.k.a. Virtual Transformation Experience.

In this presentation, Andy O’Hearn seeks to help The Breakfast Club members not only answer the question “What if The Breakfast Club members knew (collectively), what The Breakfast Club members know” (individually), but also to outline suggested best practices for creating meaningful relationships and networks (i.e., cohorts) that jointly drive performance together–via control, competence, and connection–toward lasting results.

About the speaker:

In the central/northern New Jersey corporate communications world, Andy O’Hearn is one of the most highly connected *practice* leaders (as distinguished from *thought* leaders) you will ever meet.

Over the span of nearly four decades, Andy has immersed himself in a “firehose” of networking channels and communities, distilling and curating the most effective resources and approaches toward the cause of servant leadership and “mega-mentoring.”

Building on a three-legged stool of concise and clear writing, exceptional editing, and replicable research, Andy wants to help you navigate through the morass of conflicting and often outdated or inaccurate online information to “connect the dots” (i.e., pockets of genius), and in so doing, simplify inherent complexity through operationally efficient communications.

Presentation: “2023: A “Job Skills” Odyssey – Disruption Proofing your Career in a Post-COVID World

Disruption in a Post-COVID World continues and is not only happening faster than ever before – it now includes more topics.   For example, in 2022 you may have noticed/experienced one or more of the following disruptions:

•The Economy, the Stock Market and Interest Rates

•Inflation

•Social Platform Disruptions

•Technology Acquisitions

•Crypto- Currency Collapses

•Significant layoffs in the tech sector

While unsettling, this represents the “new normal” of today’s business climate, which doesn’t look like it will slow down anytime soon). Your best defense to combat disruption is to “keep pace” with current events to understand technology trends – with the goal of getting critical skills before your competition.

While this can seem like a difficult (some may say monumental) task, one approach is to watch George’s “Digital Disruption” Webinar (now over 135 episodes), where each week disruptions of all types are discussed along with where opportunities they provide – and – the impact to both companies / individuals

The extensive content ( and insights ) from those Webinars is the basis for George’s BRAND-NEW Presentation for 2023. Organizing 52 weeks of content provides a wealth of information about the “current state” of a number of disruptions – and which ones you should get ready for.  Topics discussed in this presentation and how to “keep pace” with each will include:

•Web 3.0

•MetaVerse

•Blockchain / CryptoCurrency

•Social Media

•Disrupted Companies

About the speaker:

George Pace is an IT technology leader, focusing on how to extract business value from the latest technologies. He works to “Keep Pace” with a range of disruptive technologies such as Cloud Computing, AI and Digital Assistants to gain insights on how those technologies will impact the Future of Work.

George shares his thoughts and insights on his YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/keeppace) – so stop by and subscribe!   George holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Seton Hall University and an MBA from the Rutgers Business School.

Presentation: “The Bot is Ready to Interview You Now

Active job seekers apply to openings because it is easy, and it gives them hope. But companies have had to react to ever-increasing influxes of applicants. Initially, the applicant tracking system was introduced to weed out unqualified applicants. And now a new technology called asynchronous video interview (AVI) has been deployed to further sift through applicants and identify those who meet a company’s criteria.

The AVI is benefiting companies, but it raises a high hurdle for applicants. Furthermore, the AVI often incorporates artificial intelligence to rank applicants. This presentation describes interviewing with a machine, and it offers many tips for increasing your chances to be selected.

During the presentation, you will:

  • Learn how to manage the technical aspects of video communication such as lighting, background, positioning of the camera, and use of a headset.
  • Find out what’s important when interviewing with a machine.
  • Get many tips for improving your current performance.

About the speaker:

Known as “The Landing Expert,” Alex Freund helps his clients improve their interview performance by removing the fear so they can feel confident during the process. For the last 15 years, Alex has helped more than 1200 clients ranging from managers to CEOs in a variety of industries.
